Abstract

The features of geodesic flows are often of great interest in many areas of Mathematics: for instance, Selberg trace formula and Ratner's formula provide concrete links between the spectrum of the Laplacian of a hyperbolic surface and the periodic orbits and the speed of mixing of its geodesic flow. In this talk, we consider the statistical features of geodesic flows on non-positively curved surfaces whose zero curvature regions are reduced to a finite collection of cylinders. This is based on a joint work in progress with Y. Lima and I. Melbourne.
