CANCELED -- VIRTUAL SEMINAR SERIES -- INTEGRABLE SYSTEMS: Integrable systems from moduli spaces of Higgs bundles

Ana Peón-Nieto (University of Birmingham)

Wednesday 1st December, 2021 13:30-14:30 Zoom seminar hosted by ICMS

Abstract

In this talk I will explain different variants of the Hitchin system, an integrable system introduced by Nigel Hitchin in the 1980s, whose applications nowadays go as far as the mirror symmetry phenomenon for Higgs bundles or an alternative approach to geometric Langlands via abelianisation. From the classical symplectic case, I will move on to Bottacin and Markman's work on Poisson moduli spaces of Higgs bundles. Finally, I will report on joint work with Biswas and Logares about symplectification of these these Poisson manifolds, and how an integrable subsystem therein described has been found to be linked to a Calabi--Yau integrable system by Lee and Lee. Time permitting, I will explain how this generalises to the parabolic moduli space case (joint with Biswas, Logares and Szábo).
