James Sloan joined the faculty at the School of Law in January 2000.   His teaching includes courses at the honours and masters levels in each of International Criminal Law and United Nations law. 

Before coming to Glasgow, James worked for the United Nations as a Legal Adviser to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and as a Political Advisor to the UN Mission in Bougainville (Papua New Guinea).  He also worked for several non-governmental organisations, focussing international human rights, international humanitarian law and international refugee law.
