Antonios Tzanakopoulos joined the School of Law in 2009, having previously taught for three years at the University of Oxford as Graduate Teaching Assistant (Faculty of Law) and Tutorial Supervisor in Public International Law (Foreign Service Programme). He studied law in Athens (University of Athens LLB, LLM; State Scholarship Foundation Award), New York (NYU LLM; Jerome Lipper Prize), and Oxford (DPhil; grants by the Greek State Scholarship Foundation (IKY) and the Arts and Humanities Research Council). Antonios has worked as a researcher for the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens (Special Legal Department) and New York (Permanent Mission to the UN) and for the UN Office in Geneva (International Law Commission). He is a qualified lawyer with the Athens Bar in Greece. He is also Associate Editor for International Law in Domestic Courts. His book on Disobeying the Security Council is published by Oxford University Press.

Research Interests

International law in general. In particular: law of international responsibility; law of international organizations; international dispute settlement; international courts and tribunals; the relationship between international and domestic law; and the role of domestic courts in the interpretation and application of international law.
