The Alan Rodger Endowment

An endowment in memory of Alan Rodger, Lord Rodger of Earlsferry, has been established at the University of Glasgow by a gift of the Rodger family. The endowment is dedicated to promoting the study of Roman law and legal history.

Lord Rodger, a graduate of the University of Glasgow, was an eminent advocate and judge, and served as Lord President of the Court of Session, Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, and Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. He was also a distinguished scholar of Roman law and legal history.

The endowment supports the publication of print and electronic works; the exchange of scholars to and from Glasgow; and activities and events at the University.

Alan Rodger Postgraduate Visiting Researcher

A visiting post has been established under the endowment. The University invites a young scholar to spend a term as Alan Rodger Postgraduate Visiting Researcher. The holder has full access to the research facilities of the University, and receives a stipend for support.
