Postgraduate research opportunities

Law has been taught and researched at the University of Glasgow since the 15th Century. We are one of the top law schools in the United Kingdom and enjoy a worldwide reputation for excellence in research.

The School’s PhD programme aims to attract exceptionally talented and strongly committed students to pursue a doctoral thesis within a period of three years. Admission is extremely competitive, and a limited number of candidates are admitted every year. The programme’s unique features include the genuine integration of students within the school’s research community; an emphasis on research methodology; commitment to inter-disciplinary research; and a wide range of opportunities for international mobility.

Browse our research supervisors or research themes to find out more about the areas in which we offer supervision. Our postgraduate research administrator Susan Holmes can help with your enquiries.

We offer the opportunity to a limited number of PhD researchers of other institutions to visit the Glasgow Law School for longer periods under our scheme for postgraduate visiting researchers.
