As part of its Tercentenary celebrations the Law School will host an interdisciplinary symposium on the 14th June on evolving trends in monetary law & policy. In the wake of the financial crisis, the role and accountability of central banks has come under increased scrutiny as have the tools that they employ to meet their objectives. The focus of the symposium will be on the role of central banks and their relationship with the new international and EU financial regulatory architecture.
The symposium will conclude with a panel addressing the implications of Scottish independence for the UK monetary union and the financial sector in Scotland.
