Fixing the Past: Thoughts on Restitutionary or Remedial Equality

Professor Danie Visser from University of Cape Town is currently a Distinguished Visitor in Private Law at the University of Edinburgh. During his stay in Scotland, he has kindly agreed to give a presentation at the University of Glasgow.

The event will take place on 5th April at 4pm in Rm 207, Professor Square. The topic will be 'Fixing the Past - Thoughts on Restitutionary or Remedial Equality'.

During the presentation, Prof Visser will discuss some of the remedies that have been made available (both in public law and in private law) in terms of sec 9(2) of the South African Constitution to advance persons who have been discriminated against in the past. This will be a comparative paper and will talk about the universal underlying challenges in regard to achieving equality.
