The Law Collections Appeal & The Tercentenary Scholarship Appeal
In September 2010, the School of Law launched its Law Collections Appeal: a fundraising intiative to increase support and raise funds for the Law Collections in the University of Glasgow Library.
The University currently has a well-resourced law library, housed within the main University library building. However, like all other modern libraries, it feels the pressure exerted by the recent exponential increase in both the volume and the cost of legal material published, in print and online.
Increasing investment in our Law Collections will ensure that current and future law students at Glasgow will have access to the best educational resources available. It will also ensure that the law library continues to underpin the future of legal education, scholarship and practice in Glasgow and the West of Scotland for many years to come.

Tercentenary Scholarships Appeal
The Tercentenary Scholarships Appeal is intended to create three scholarships for students to pursue a PhD in the School.
2013-2014 is the 300th anniversary of the appointment of William Forbes as the first Regius Professor of Law. We hope to have three PhD scholarships in place by then, made up from small donations given regularly on the basis of 'mony a mickle maks a muckle'.
150 people giving £10 per month for 3 years amounts to £54,000 - a full scholarship that will enable a bright student to pursue a PhD, a qualification that is essential nowadays for someone seeking employment in a University.
Many overseas governments provide funding for doctoral scholarships but funding in the UK is exceptionally difficult meaning that our students find it extremely challenging to obtain support. These scholarships are essential to renew the younger generation of scholars who will continue the tradition of excellent teaching and researching law at Glasgow.
