Cairncross McRae Bursary

The Cairncross McRae Bursary is open to applications from postgraduate research students at the School of Interdisciplinary Studies whose work accords with the central themes of the Solway Centre for Environment and Culture.

  • Landscape, place and memory
  • Sustainable, rural tourism
  • Rural landscape management

We are particularly interested in the areas where these three overlap, creating theoretical challenges and offering opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.

How to apply

Applicants should be postgraduate research students of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies or have been made a firm offer of study as a postgraduate research student at the school.

Please complete the application form and provide a letter of recommendation and support from at least one supervisor (or intended supervisor) explaining the relevance of your research in the context of the themes of the Solway Centre for Environment & Culture.

Awards will be made at the discretion of the awarding committee, whose decision is final.
