Compass Brain Injury Specialists Ltd (formerly Headway, Dumfries & Galloway) received a welcome boost of funds from the University of Glasgow’s School of Interdisciplinary Studies in Dumfries this week. The generosity of guests contributing to a retiring collection at the University of Glasgow’s annual Christmas Concert in the Crichton Memorial Church on Saturday 10 December 2016, resulted in a fantastic fundraising total of £864.02.

Compass Brain Injury Specialists is commissioned by NHS Dumfries & Galloway to provide specialist service for adults, children and young people with acquired brain injury and their families and carers.

Dr Carol Hill, Head of School at the University of Glasgow in Dumfries said: “We are always delighted to welcome the renowned University of Glasgow Chapel Choir to Dumfries for our annual Christmas Concert, which was once again supported by Dumfries Town Band. The concert is always well received by the colleagues, students and members of the public who attend and the retiring collection in December is testimony to that. It is a pleasure to present Compass Brain Injury Specialists with this donation and I would like to thank everyone who kindly contributed to the collection.”

While on campus to receive the donation Owen Fielding, Business Operations Manager at Compass Brain Injury Specialists said: “Compass is delighted to receive this generous donation, and honoured to be the chosen local charity of University of Glasgow Dumfries campus students for one year.  We are very grateful to the University of Glasgow Chapel Choir, Dumfries Town Band and concert patrons for their generosity.  It means even more that this sizeable donation is from a local source, benefiting our citizens afflicted by acquired brain injury.  The Choir donation and year-long association with the students is a visible demonstration of the community spirit that prevails in Dumfries & Galloway.  That community spirit and partnership approach is just as important as the donation.  On behalf of the clients and staff of Compass Brain Injury Specialists, thank you to all who donated to; and organised, the Christmas Concert.”
