The School of Interdisciplinary Studies

The School of Interdisciplinary Studies is part of the University of Glasgow's College of Social Science. We are based at the Dumfries Campus, just two hours from the city in the southwest of Scotland.

Here, in this beautiful part of the country, we offer you the best of both worlds: the benefits and resources of a large city university, in a small and friendly setting.

Students here enjoy:

  • A truly interdisciplinary approach; we teach you how your subjects relate to each other and to the wider world
  • Small group teaching
  • A high staff:student ratio
  • The opportunity to pursue a work placement as part of all of our degree programmes, developing your transferable skills and your employability
  • Structured, supported, independent learning
  • A focus on personal development and citizenship
  • A relaxed, friendly, collegiate campus environment; our students find they settle in easily.

We are a proud to be part of the unique and pioneering Dumfries Campus, sharing state-of-the-art facilities and a stunning rural setting with the following academic partners:

The Barony College also has a campus close by.
