Geographies of Missing People

The ESRC funded 'geographies of missing people' research project got major national UK media coverage in June 2013 for their launch of findings, including in the Independent on Sunday, The Herald, various regional newspapers and BBC Radio Scotland, and provided headline news for the West of Scotland on BBC online: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-22955884

The publicity has been helpful in getting the message out to police officers and forces across the UK alerting them to the educational resources arising from the research which now exists at: www.geographiesofmissingpeople.org.uk

The project also delivered training to specialist operational search officers at the UK National Police Search Centre in Bramshill in July 2013. The findings from the academic scholarship has now the potential to be operationalised by officers working on the ground in tracing missing people. This substantial impact is now being taken forward by the Glasgow based team to secure a legacy with police education services via the UK Police College in a planned knowledge exchange programme.
