Tom, a 2007 Earth Science graduate, who is currently doing an MSc course in Petroleum Geoscience, and has been employed by Shell as a Production Geologist
I was not entirely sure what course I wished to study when I initially went to university but having enjoyed geography at school I decided to follow that path. I entered the department of Geographic and Earth Sciences and during first and second year I had the chance to study numerous subjects including geography, environmental sciences, geomatics and earth sciences. This gave me the right amount of time to decide what course was for me and in the end I chose Earth Sciences. The interesting course work, friendly staff and exciting field trips to areas such as Ardnamurchan and Spain gave me the enthusiasm for the subject that lead me to the masters course I am in now. I will shortly be starting my thesis project and then beginning my career in the Oil Industry as a Production Geologist for Shell.
