Iain, an Earth Science graduate in 1981, now Subsurface Manager, Algeria, for ConocoPhillips

I graduated with a B.Sc in Geology from Glasgow University and then followed that with a M.Sc in Petroleum Geology at Aberdeen University. On completion of my M.Sc. I was hired by the U.S. Oil and Gas Company - ConocoPhillips and have worked for them in a variety of roles since then. I have specialised in the development and production of oil and gas fields which involves interpretation and analysis of the subsurface , building of geological and reservoir models , which enables wells to be drilled in the best locations to extract the hydrocarbons.

The job has allowed me to live and work in a number of places which has been really interesting including the U.K. , Norway, Indonesia and Algeria. I am currently based in Houston, Texas at the company headquarters.
