Biography
Prior to joining the University of Glasgow in 1987 Dr Green had accumulated 10 years of industrial experience as a Design Engineer and a Product Development Manager. Upon joining the University he was immediately involved in establishing the award winning joint degree programme in Product Design Engineering , in collaboration with the Glasgow School of Art.
His teaching interests span all aspects of Engineering Design & Manufacture and Product Development. His scholarship has been informed by research into engineering & design evaluation methodology, robust design and reliability, micro & layered manufacture, engineering design education.
In addition to being Programme Leader for Product Design Engineering, Dr Green has served as Head of Teaching in Mechanical Engineering, Head of the Mechanical Engineering discipline and is currently Convener of Postgraduate Taught Programmes for the School of Engineering.
Dr Green has also acted as external examiner at: Imperial College/RCA; Loughborough University; Napier University, British University in Egypt.
He is a Chartered Engineer, a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, a member of the Institution of Engineering Designers and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
In addition, Dr Green serves as a member of the panel of Academic Advisers for the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK.
