Biography

Vince Bissell graduated in Leeds in 1985. He moved to Edinburgh in 1988 where he completed his specialist training in Restorative Dentistry. He was awarded a PhD by the University of Edinburgh in 1995. After a brief spell in the Middle East he moved to the University of Glasgow as a Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant.

In 2002 he was appointed Associate Dean for Dental Education (now Director of Dental Education) and re-appointed to this post in 2009. He has successfully led the development and introduction of the 2004 BDS Curriculum. He was appointed to a Chair in Restorative Dentistry and Dental Education in 2011. He is Convener of the Learning and Teaching Committee for the School of Medicine.

In 2010 Professor Bissell was appointed Chair of the Overseas Registration Examination Board at the General Dental Council. He is Deputy Convener of the Advisory Board on Implant Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh
