Biography

Daryll Jagger is Professor/Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry in Glasgow Dental Hospital and School with subspecialty interests in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics.

She graduated from Cardiff Dental School in 1986. Following a series of junior hospital posts she gained her FDS in 1990. She joined Bristol Dental Hospital and School as a lecturer in Restorative Dentistry in 1991, where she gained her MSc in 1993 (in vitro investigation of the wear of dental materials) and her PhD (reinforcement of polymeric materials) in 2000.

She was appointed to the position of Senior Lecturer in 2000 and completed her Specialist Training Programme in Restorative Dentistry, achieving her certificate of accreditation in 2002. She subsequently took up the position of Professor of Restorative Dentistry in Bristol Dental School in 2004. During her time in Bristol she held a number of key positions including Head of Restorative Dentistry (2004-2009), Research and Development Lead for Dentistry for the Trust (2002-2005) and Chair of the Dental Education Committee (2009). In 2009 she joined the Peninsula Dental School as Professor of Restorative Dentistry and Director of Clinical Dentistry before taking up her post here in Glasgow Dental School in 2010.  She is Programme Director for the MSc in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and course leader for Removable Prosthodontics within the MSc in Primary Dental Care. She is currently an Examiner for the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination in Restorative Dentistry.


Research interests

Her research interests are focused on the dental needs of the community, dental education and in the field of biomaterials science. She has over 80 publications and a textbook in removable prosthodontics.
