Biography
Christopher Nile graduated from Newcastle University with a B.Sc. in Applied Biology with honours in Biotechnology in 2000. He then went on to successfully complete a doctorate at Newcastle University in the innate immunity of the avian gastrointestinal tract (2004). He subsequently undertook a postdoctoral research position in the Academic Rheumatology group at Sheffield University investigating the epigenetic regulation of cytokine expression (2005-2007).
He then returned to Newcastle University as a postdoctoral research associate in 2007 and spent the next 3 years investigating the expression of novel cytokines and the role of physiological mediators in inducing an inflammatory response, with specific emphasis on pathogenesis of periodontal disease, Sjögren's syndrome and bladder interstitial cystitis.
In 2010 Dr Nile was appointed lecturer in Immunology at the University of Glasgow Dental School.
