Dr Alastair Ross

Biography

Dr Al Ross was appointed Lecturer in Behavioural Science, in the Community Oral Health Section and Research Group in January 2014. He came to Glasgow from King’s College London, where he was a Research Fellow in the NIHR Patient Safety and Service Quality unit (2011-12) and subsequently a Senior Research Fellow in the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery.

Dr Ross is Deputy Lead for Patient Management and Health Promotion for the School and Director of the Dental Electives programme. 

Research interests

Dr Ross has wide interest in Organisational Psychology, Human Factors, and quality and safety in healthcare. He is conducting research into the behavioural and organisational aspects of preventive care in General Dental Practice, and oral care for older people living in Care Homes.

His main educational interest is in the use of simulated exercises for teaching healthcare undergraduates and professionals. His current funders include the Scottish Government, the Health Foundation and the Dunhill Medical Trust.
