Welcome to two new research students working on Robert Burns

The 'Shaw Bursary Scholar' and 'Lord Kelvin Adam Smith doctoral scholarship' have been awarded to Joseph DuRant and Moira Hansen.

The Centre for Robert Burns Studies, the Scottish Literature area and the School of Critical Studies welcomes two new research students working on Robert Burns. Joseph DuRant who has come all the way from South Carolina will be writing an MPhil dissertation on Burns and the Dumfriesshire Riddell family who play such an important part in the poet’s career. Joseph arrives as our 'Shaw Bursary Scholar'.a

Another prestigious scholarship will be held by Moira Hansen, who begins work on a PhD thesis with the topic of "Melancholy and low spirits are half my disease": Physical and mental health in the life and works of Robert Burns. Moira has won a highly competitive University of Glasgow Lord Kelvin Adam Smith doctoral scholarship.
