Victorian

Victorian Studies is a key research area in English Literature with staff holding grants from leading funding bodies and publishing work in leading journals and monograph series. The PGT programme in Victorian Literature attracts home and international students and has an excellent conversion rate to PhD. We have several doctoral students in the Victorian Studies cluster, including those with AHRC funding and many are already presenting their work at academic conferences in the field. Our research culture in this area is vibrant, building on our hosting of the the 10th Annual Conference of the British Association for Victorian Studies in Sept 2010 which attracted c.170 scholars to Glasgow from around the world. We regularly host visiting speakers from the UK and abroad and our own staff are invited speakers at other institutions and in the media. Our postgraduates run a lively Victorian Literature Reading Group.
