recent bi-ennial International Conference of the European Society for
the Study of English (ESSE) was held in Torino (Turin) in Italy, 24-28
August 2010. The conference hosted a number of Scottish events and
seminars. Seminar 31, 'Dis/placing the British Empire: theoretical and
critical views from Scottish studies', was convened by Carla Sassi
(University of Verona) and Theo van Heijnsbergen (University of
Glasgow).
