Biography:
Prof. David Watt is a Professor of Computing Science and a member of the Software Engineering & Information Security group. He received his PhD from the University of Glasgow in 1974. His teaching is primarily in programming, programming languages, algorithms and data structures. He has written eight textbooks, and is currently writing a popular computing science book. He is heavily involved in educational policy, development of taught postgraduate programmes, and internationalisation. He has been convener of the University’s Academic Standards Committee since 2004, and has led a reform of the University’s academic year. Recently he became a QAA Institutional Reviewer. He is a member of the BCS.

Research Interests:
Design, specification, and implementation of programming languages.
