Study Trips

Media Management

MSc students visited the studios of BBC Scotland. For student Ramona Tancau, it 'was a fascinating experience, to see the amount of work behind the scenes, all the technical equipment and knowledge employees must have to operate it. The design of the building itself was intriguing, a pleasant, creative work environment, where all employees can interact freely. During the tour, we were told and shown that nobody had their own office, so that there can be natural human interaction between employees.'

History of Art

Each year, History of Art MLitt students go on study trips to cities like Berlin, Amsterdam, The Hague, York or Liverpool.  They visit museums, galleries, historic houses and monuments on specially-tailored visits led by curators and museum professionals.

Performance

Music

An annual show of postgraduate work in Music, 'Sound Thought', provides a public stage for both composers and musicologists to present their work.
Postgraduate composers have further opportunites to have works performed as part of the Music in the University concert series and the Musica Nova festival.  In recent years student work has been performed by the Edinburgh Quartet, the Paragon Ensemble, the Chapel Choir and by organist Kevin Bowyer.

More information, including videos, forums and recordings, on the website: Sound Thought 2011

Exhibitions

Each year, MLitt students in History of Art have the opportunity to put on an exhibition in association with Paisley Museum and Art Gallery, in the 20-credit Exhibition course.
