Research summary

Research title

Understanding and visioning social space through meetings with places no longer there

Summary of research

This enquiry posits research-led artistic performance practice as a direct contribution to current explorations and debates on the dynamic relationships between past, present and future, within the spatial field – that is, in those milieus where our constructs of place and history combine and inform our sense of ourselves, and of the wider environments we live in. Through a focused exploration of how located live art might reactivate and relocate remembered and recorded pasts, the project aims to reveal the relevance and potential of social space for our visioning and understanding of the future in ways that are sustainable and ecologically progressive.
