External Involvement
Accounting and Finance
Accounting and Finance staff serve on an academic advisory panel to the UK Accounting Standards Board, as well as on various committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
Our staff have been called to give evidence to the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee and act as advisors to the Economic and Social Research Council, the Hong Kong Research Grants Council and the Canadian Social Science and the Humanities Research Council.
Economics
Economics staff have been research collaborators in and consultants to a number of international and government organisations around the world and private sector institutions including:
- The IMF
- World Bank
- The United Nations (UNCTAD, UNDP and UNFAO) and United Nations University - World Institute for Development Economics Research
- Commonwealth Secretariat
- Numerous central banks (including the European Central Bank)
- HM Treasury, the Department of Trade and Industry (now Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform) of the UK Government
- The Scottish Government, the Welsh Assembly Government and the Northern Ireland Government
- The European Commission,
- Government agencies in developing countries
- Numerous London-based private sector financial institutions
Management
Management staff advise and research for both the public and private sectors at home and abroad. In this last year alone expertise was drawn on by public sector organisations at home such as the NHS, Scottish Government, HM Revenue and Customs, Department of Health, Glasgow Health Board, Merseyside and Strathclyde Police.
Recent organisations abroad include the Eastern Sweden Development Agency and the Irish Government.
Private sector organisations have included IBM, the Institute of Directors, and the Institute of Banking in Saudi Arabia.
