CIER members share research at recent workshop

CIER hosted a research workshop in November 2012, bringing together members, visiting scholars, staff and PhD students in Management at the University of Glasgow and the University of Strathclyde to discuss publications. The event provided an opportunity to share ideas and provide feedback on presenters’ papers.

Professor Pavlos Dimitratos, co-director of CIER and Professor of International Business in the Adam Smith Business School  gave the presentation of “Dynamic Capabilities, Foreign Sales and Small Firm Performance”. This is his joint research paper with Professor Becky Reuber from Rotman School of Management at University of Toronto. Prof Becky Reuber is an Adam Smith Visiting Research Fellow of the University of Glasgow.                       

Helen Mullen, a PhD student in the business faculty at the University of Strathclyde, gave the second presentation. She presented her joint research paper with Professor Colin Mason from the University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School, “The Origins and Dynamics of Industrial Clusters: The Case of the Scottish Video Games Industry”. Dr Alfredo D'Angelo, a lecturer at the Adam Smith Business School and member of CIER, invited as a discussant by this workshop, provided his constructive feedback to this paper.

Professor Marian Jones, the founder and co-director of CIER and Professor of Internationalisation and Entrepreneurship at the Adam Smith Business School, gave the presentation on her paper “Experiential Framing and Reasoning in Internationalisation: A Conceptual Exploration of Alternatives to Rationality”.
