A multidisciplinary community for research & programmes in internationalisation and enterprise

Initially Co-directed by Professor Marian V. Jones and Professor Stephen Young, the Community for Internationalisation and Enterprise Research (CIER) was launched on 12th September 2006.

CIER aims to be recognized worldwide as an internationally acclaimed centre for multidisciplinary research study and allied teaching & executive programmes in internationalisation and enterprise.

Prof Stephen Young, Dr Shameen Prashantham, Professor Marian V. Jones and Dr Anna Morgan-Thomas form the core of an international community of excellence on internationalisation research.

CIER members are renowned for creative research on the internationalisation of high technology small and medium-sized firms (SMEs), multinational enterprises (MNEs) and subsidiary entrepreneurship. New projects are being launched that integrate these streams of research, focusing upon MNE-SME collaboration. Particular emphasis in these projects will be on innovation, and poverty reduction in developing economies respectively. While research is genuinely international in scope – areas of interest include Europe, Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, China & East Asia and North and South Americas – CIER will also retain and further develop its strong research activities in Scotland.
