Research in Economics is divided into three groups based on the interests and expertise of research-active staff members:
Development Studies and Economic History
Research in this group focuses on economic development, economic history, international economics, demography and development, economic growth and development, human development concept, and economic policy reforms.
Macroeconomics and Financial Economics
Research interests in this group include fiscal policy in macroeconomic models, growth theory, international economics, econometric theory, corporate investment and finance, macroeconomic modelling, monetary economics, financial economics, economic theory, theoretical and applied econometrics, Real Business Cycles (RBC), Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) models, and the broad area of finance.
Microeconomics
Research interests in this group include game theory and negotiations, micro-analysis of firm/plant level productivity, government industrial policy, relative performance of UK SMEs, relative performance of family-owned SMEs, economies with a large but finite number of participants, and applied microeconomics, including housing, football, regulation, volunteering and skills/learning.
