PhD programmes

Accounting and Finance in the Business School has a thriving body of PhD students currently researching in the following areas:

  • finance,
  • market reactions to accounting,
  • management accounting and control,
  • judgment and decision-marking in accounting and audit,
  • and corporate reporting and governance.

Our aim is to provide our research students with a challenging and high quality training in the theory and practice of research in accounting and finance, in which our graduates will be equipped to design and conduct high-quality research in preparation for employment as researchers or where excellent analytic and communication skills are valued.

Our staff research interests lists the topics in which supervision can be offered.  A supervisor will be allocated who has expertise in your proposed area of research and who will offer guidance and advice during your studies.

In addition to the PhD programme, Accounting and Finance also offers the MRes degree programme.  This is a one year stand-alone programme which is often taken as part of the MRes + PhD research training package, with the PhD itself requiring a minimum of 3 years full-time study.
