Survey ranks Glasgow 1st in UK for international student satisfaction

The University of Glasgow has been ranked 1st in the UK for satisfaction in a worldwide survey of international students.
An impressive 96% of our international students agree that Glasgow is 'a good place to be', according to the International Student Barometer 2011.
The University performs very well against other UK and Russell Group institutions, ranking 1st in the whole survey for social activities, online library, and sports faculties. Among Russell Group universities, the university ranked 1st for learning experience, quality lectures, and many support services such as registry, finance and disability support.
Taking all the ratings for learning, living and support experience together the University is 1st in the UK and third in the whole ISB survey.
91% of our international students are satisfied with the expert lecturers in the Business School, with areas such as buildings, quality of campus environment and overall support achieving 90% satisfaction or better among Business School students. Professor Farhad Noorbakhsh, Head of the Business School, commented:
"We are pleased to have done so well in the International Student Barometer, and we will use the feedback received to continually improve the student environment at the Business School. Student satisfaction is a important part of the Business School's future plans."
The survey, which is the largest of its kind, canvasses international students' views on the teaching, services and the overall experience of their chosen university.
The summer 2011 survey compared Glasgow against 65 international universities, 44 UK institutions, 12 Russell Group universities, and six Scottish institutions.
The survey also revealed that 82% of international students would recommend Glasgow as a study destination to their friends and 12% wish to stay on for further study.
Students also made positive comments about the city and Scotland, praising the culture, activities and overall experience of Glasgow, the country and its people.
The survey is conducted by i-graduate International Insight Group and is used by 270 higher education institutions around the world.
