Rankings
The University of Glasgow has been at the forefront of the university sector for a large number of years. As one of the ancient universities of Scotland, it has a long-standing international reputation for research, education, and innovation. It has consistently occupied a place at the top of the world university rankings, and is considered to be among the top 40 universities in Europe. | International Student Barometer | Summer 2011 | 1st (UK) | The University of Glasgow has been ranked 1st in the UK for satisfaction in a worldwide survey of international students. An impressive 96% of our international students agree that Glasgow is 'a good place to be', according to the International Student Barometer 2011. International students also report 94 per cent satisfaction with the University’s expert lecturers, and 91 per cent of final year students are satisfied with their learning experience. The survey is conducted by i-graduate International Insight Group and is used by 270 higher education institutions around the world. |

Across the United Kingdom, Glasgow was ranked 3rd among submissions by small specialist Management departments (less than 25 staff). |
Glasgow has significant expertise in the field Economics, particularly international finance research, and is ranked in the top 10% of institutions worldwide while staff member, Professor Ronald MacDonald, is ranked in the top 5% of authors in this area and in economics as a whole. Glasgow's research in economics places it in the top 25% Economics Departments in the world (RePEc, January 2013).

In comparison with other Scottish Universities, Economics at Glasgow is the top-ranked University (followed – in rank order – by Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Stirling, St Andrews and Dundee). This has resulted in the highest award of research funding for Economics in Scotland, almost one quarter of the total distributed by the Scottish Funding Council for research excellence in 2009/10. In comparison with all Universities that submitted entries to the Economics UoA, Glasgow is ranked 6th (equal with Southampton and Royal Holloway, University of London; and just behind Cambridge and Manchester). |
