Talent Scholarships

Description: The University of Glasgow is awarding 50 undergraduate Talent Scholarships in academic year 2013-14 to support students who could face financial difficulties in taking up their place to study at the University.  The value of each scholarship is £1,000 p.a. for each year of the degree programme, subject to satisfactory progress. Talent Scholarships are available to students entering any of the University’s colleges. Dental School students are eligible for a talent scholarship in their first year of study only; they are eligible for the NHS Dental Bursary in the following years.

Value: £1,000 p.a. for each year of the degree programme, subject to satisfactory progress.

Eligibility: You are eligible to apply for a Talent Scholarships if:

  • you have demonstrated excellent academic achievement before starting University
  • you live in the UK and are classified as a ‘Home’ student for fee purposes and are not eligible for the Welcome Bursary and/or Access Scholarship
  • you intend  to commence your full-time undergraduate degree programme in September 2013
  • you or your family's circumstances are such that you may find it difficult to take up a place at the University for financial or other reasons.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology Diamond Jubilee scholarships

Description: The main aim of this initiative is to encourage bright young students to consider studying engineering and technology, and to go on to have very rewarding and challenging careers. The IET promotes, recognises and rewards excellence through its Awards programmes. For more information visit the IET website.

Eligibility: Applicants must:

  • Have achieved 3 ‘A’ grades at A-level, 3 'A' grade Advanced Highers, 5 'A' grade Highers or an International Baccalaureate Diploma at 36 points or above. No other equivalent qualifications are eligible.
  • Be embarking on the first year of an IET accredited BEng or MEng programme in September 2013
  • Be a UK resident
  • Not be in receipt of another IET scholarship or IET grant.

Value: £1000 per year during your studies, up to a maximum of £3000 for Bachelors students and £4000 for MEng students.

Deadline: Applications by 27 June 2013.  Supporting documentation by 21 August 2013 (A level, Advanced Highers or Highers results transcripts & UCAS confirmation). Posted or faxed hard copy and/or incomplete documents will not be considered.
