Access to Erasmus Scholarships
Description: The University of Glasgow will award a number of scholarships to students considering studying abroad on the Erasmus Programme. To be eligible, applicants must have completed one of the University's pre-entry programmes or come from what we would regard as a widening participation (WP) background e.g:
Top-Up Programme
University of Glasgow Summer School
Scottish Wider Access Programme
DACE Access Course
Spent time in care
The scholarship can provide additional funding for you to take up the opportunity to study abroad.
Value: Dependant upon duration of overseas study: 6 months = £500 and 12 months = £1,000. You should consider this carefully as some destinations are more expensive than others and exchange rates can vary.
Eligibility: Applicants must have completed one of the University of Glasgow pre-entry programmes or come from what we would regard as a WP background (see above) and be nominated by their academic subject area for the Erasmus Programme. If you are interested, you must speak with the relevant person in your subject area.
Note: The award is not available to those who must spend a year abroad as a compulsory part of their degree, i.e. modern language students.
How to apply: Please download and complete the Access to Erasmus Scholarships application form and return by email to Caren.Cunningham@glasgow.ac.uk
Closing Date: 1 May 2011 for study abroad commencing in September 2011; 15 November 2011 for study abroad commencing in January 2012. Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application after this date.
Payment of Award: The scholarship scheme is competitive and an award is not guaranteed upon application. Successful applicants will receive payment by cheque before leaving for their destination abroad. The award will be repayable to the University in full, if an applicant subsequently does not travel abroad.
