Anglo-Spanish Society Scholarship Programme

Description: Founded in 1919 and re-established in 1958, the Anglo-Spanish Society, a UK registered charity, is a non-profit organisation managed by an elected Executive Council with the support of Trustees. Its objectives are to promote friendship and understanding between the peoples of Britain and Spain through the knowledge of each other’s customs, institutions, history and way of life.
The Society is proud to be able to provide a number of grants to support university students (undergraduate and postgraduates ), whose studies or research projects are related to the bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and Spain, in any area of academic interest
Value: Grants can include allowances for research materials, travel, academic fees and, where appropriate, accommodation. Each grant will be of the order of £3,000, with a likely maximum of £4,500 in special cases.
Eligibility: Applicants must be United Kingdom or Spanish nationals who have been accepted at the University of their choice and are either at their final year of undergraduate level or postgraduate level; or mature students seeking to extend their qualifications. Successful applicants will be asked to submit a short article on their research and experiences for publication in the Society’s Quarterly Review.

How to Apply: Applications - either direct or via an academic sponsor - should be made to the Grants Secretary of the Society info@anglospanishsociety.org and are to include:
- a covering letter - including a brief outline of the proposed course/project and
- an up-to-date CV, giving full academic and personal details, with particular reference to items 1, 3 and 5 of the Grants Policy.

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP)
Description: The CSFP is one of the largest and most prestigious scholarships schemes for international study in the world. Since it was established in 1959, 27,000 individuals have benefited.
Eligibility: Applicants must:
- Be citizens of any of the following Commonwealth countries: Australia, Bangladesh. India, Jamaica, Maldives, New Zealand, Pakistan, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Swaziland, United Kingdom.
- Hold a first degree of upper second class Honours standard (or above) in a discipline relevant to that in which study is proposed.
There may be other requirements depending on the country you are applying to so please see the CSFP website.
Value: Generally scholarships will cover tuition fees and a monthly stipend. The terms of the award may vary depending on the country you are applying to. See the CSFP website for details.

Peter Gibson Memorial Fund
Applications are considered from anyone who is interested in travelling abroad to conduct research into an area of consumer policy that could bring benefits to Scottish consumers. The fund aims to support students with research interests in people disadvantaged through age, ill-health, disability, or financial hardship. Those with innovative or challenging ideas in consumer policy in its broadest sense are encouraged to apply.
