Chevening Scholarships
Information: The aim of the award is to bring to the UK present and future leaders and decision-makers. Awards are presented annually and candidates are selected overseas by British Embassies and High Commissions in consultation with the local British Council. Chinese Government Scholarship: Shanghai Jiao Tong University 2012
Description: Shanghai Jiao Tong University is pleased to announce the 2012 Chinese Government Scholarship Program for full-time postgraduate studies at the university. There are 25 scholarships available.

Description: The Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust Scholarships (The LRET Scholarships) are available to students studying postgraduate taught Masters in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Geoinformation Technology and Cartography, Science for International Development and Environmental Statistics starting in 2012/13. The Lloyd's Register Educational Trust is an independent charity working to achieve advances in transportation, science, engineering and technology education, training and research worldwide for the benefit of all.
Award: The LRET Scholarship will cover tuition fees at Home/EU and International levels.
Eligibility: The LRET Scholarship is open to Home/EU/International applicants. Commonwealth Shared Scholarships
Description: Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are a joint initiative between the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (with funding from DFID) and UK universities, to support scholarships for students from developing Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the UK. Shared Scholarships are offered on an annual basis for Master’s study only.
Value: The scholarship will cover the full tuition and a monthly stipend including air fares to and from the UK, a grant up to £225 to cover thesis costs, and a grant up to £200 for study travel.
Eligibility: Candidates are normally expected to meet the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship criteria. To be considered by the University of Glasgow, applicants must hold an offer of a place for the one of the programmes listed below before 30 April 2012. Applicants must also upload a transcript to date, 2 academic references and a personal statement detailing how they will benefit from the scholarship with their application.

Information: Commonwealth Scholarships are available each year to fund Commonwealth citizens' study in the UK for undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications. Erasmus Mundus International Masters in Russian, Central & East European Studies (IMRCEES) Scholarships
Description: The IMRCEES offers you the unique opportunity to combine a year of study in Glasgow in the UK with a year studying overseas (in English) at one of our renowned partner institutions and leads to the award of a double degree. It is recognised by the European Commission as an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course. Graduates of the programme will be equipped with the skills to address the myriad of socio-economic and political/security challenges of the 21st century in Russia, Central and Eastern Europe and its near/abroad neighbourhood.
Value: There are two different forms of scholarships, Category A (non-European applicants) and Category B (European applicants). The scholarships' terms depend on the student's country of origin/residence and main academic and/or professional activity.
Scholarship students will receive a fee waiver to cover the difference between the Erasmus Mundus scholarship contribution to participation costs and the actual participation costs. For Category A scholarship students this amounts to a fee waiver of €500 per semester and Category B scholarship students will receive a fee waiver of €250 per semester. The participation costs cover all tuition fees and health insurance; they do not include accommodation as well as other living expenses and travel.
Eligibility: The IMRCEES programme offers Erasmus Mundus scholarships to students from around the world.

Fulbright Commission
Information: Established in 1946, the Fulbright Scholarship program aims to increase mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries, through the exchange of persons, knowledge and skills.
Approximately 20 Fulbright Scholarships are awarded each year to US graduates, regardless of age or subject, to study outside the USA.
These awards are made on a competitive basis and are for the academic year of nine months. However, students on a 12 month taught Masters degree may be eligible to receive a three month extension. Awards are available for lecturing or advanced research for a minimum of three months. Fellowships are offered for research librarians and academic administrators to spend three months gaining experience in the UK. Arts fellowships and professional fellowships are awarded to individuals in a variety of fields to enable them to spend a period of six to nine months in the UK. The Fulbright Commission promotes educational and cultural exchange between the United States and the United Kingdom in order to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen relations between the two countries. Fulbright makes awards through open competition to:
- outstanding graduates who demonstrate leadership qualities
- potential leaders of professional, academic and artistic excellence who are recognised in their field.
Value: The awards cover fares, tuition fees, maintenance, books and incidental expenses.
Eligibility: Awards are made US graduate students for pre-doctoral study in the UK. Minimum grade point average: 3.5. Priority will be given to those students who completed their first degree within the last five years. Students can follow a taught course, carry out doctoral research for a US PhD, or spend a year in independent study related to their career.

Description: The Open Society Scholarship Programs is pleased to announce the Global Supplementary Grant Program (GSGP) for 2012 – 2013. GU68 Engineers Trust
Description: The GU 1968 Engineers Trust was established by the 1968 Engineering Graduates of Glasgow University for the purposes of the advancement of education and, in particular, for the provision of benefit to or for students studying Engineering at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.
Value: The value of any Award is likely to be between £250 and £500.

Jubilee Scholarships 2012
Description: British Council and the UK Government are delighted to present this wonderful opportunity that enables young Indians to pursue a one year Masters programme in Management, Manufacturing, Science and Technology in a recognised UK institution and follow it up with a month-long internship programme in the UK.

Funding depends on the student’s level of financial need and whether other grants/funding is available to applicants. The Foundation is also happy to consider distance learning courses and shorter postgraduate courses at partner universities.
Eligibility: To apply for a Saïd Foundation Scholarship you need to:
- have a good first degree
- provide evidence of your proficiency in English
- be under forty years of age
- be Jordanian, Lebanese, Syrian or Palestinian (including Palestinians inside Israel) and be resident in the Middle East
- demonstrate that your chosen course of study will be of use to your home country or the Middle East region
- have at least two years' work experience
- sign a binding undertaking to apply the skills and knowledge you have gained in one of the Foundation's target countries
How to apply: Please read the Guidance Notes for Applicants then complete these forms carefully, enclosing all requested information when submitting your application. Applications should be returned to a British Council office in Amman, Beirut, Damascus, East Jerusalem or Gaza by 31 January each year.

Santander Scholarships
Description: The University of Glasgow-Santander Scholarship offers awards of £5000 as a tuition fee discount for our one year postgraduate taught programmes for 2012/13.
Eligibility: Candidates must be citizens of the 12 countries in the Santander scheme; Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, Uruguay, Venezuela and USA. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their academic ability and the quality of their personal statement.
Value: £5000 tuition fee discount for one year full-time courses.

Scotland's Saltire Scholarships
Description: Gain an internationally recognised qualification and take your career to new heights.This exciting scholarship opportunity is open to Canadian, Chinese, Indian and US nationals and is aimed at encouraging bright, talented and hard working individuals to live, work and study in Scotland. Awards are available for full time graduate study. Courses must be masters programmes, and can be either taught or research.
Value: The scholarship is a total of £2000 (British pounds) towards the cost tuition fees.
Eligibility: This exciting scholarship opportunity is open to citizens from USA, Canada, the Republic of China or India. Only applicants with a very good undergraduate degree will be considered (3.2 GPA or equivalent) and students wishing to apply for this scholarship should have already received either a Conditional or Unconditional offer from the University of Glasgow and be able to demonstrate that they can meet the costs of living and remaining tuition fees. The scholarships are not available to US students who have already completed their undergraduate studies at an institution in Scotland. The course must be full time and delivered in Scotland and not online or by distance learning.
