Chevening Scholarships
Information: Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The Scholarships are awarded to outstanding scholars with leadership potential. Awards are typically for a one-year Master’s degree.
Value: All or part of overall costs.
Eligibility: Chevening Scholarships are for talented people who have been identified as potential future leaders across a wide range of fields; including politics, business, the media, civil society, religion, and academia. Applicants should be high calibre graduates with the personal, intellectual and interpersonal qualities necessary for leadership. Chevening Scholars come from over 110 countries worldwide (excluding the USA and the EU), and this year the Scholarships will support approximately 700 individuals. There are over 41,000 Chevening alumni around the world who together comprise an influential and highly regarded global network.

Chinese Government Scholarship: Shanghai Jiao Tong University 2013
Description: Shanghai Jiao Tong University is pleased to announce the 2013 Chinese Government Scholarship Program for full-time postgraduate studies at the university. There are 30 scholarships available.
Value: Scholarship includes: (1) tuition waiver, basic teaching materials fee waiver and on-campus dormitory fee waiver; (2) A monthly stipend (Master’s degree students: 1700RMB/month, Doctoral degree students: 2000RMB/month); (3) One-off resettlement subsidy of 1500RMB/person on arrival; (4) Out-patient medical fees and Chinese Government Scholarship Foreign Students Medical Insurance of 600RMB/person/year. Eligibility:
(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health; (2) Applicants should be graduates of well-known overseas or Chinese universities, or those universities that have established exchange programs with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, with excellent academic performance or recommended by a Shanghai Jiao Tong University professor; (3) Applicants should not be a student of a Chinese University (except for those who have graduated from a Chinese university for one year or longer); (4) Education background and age limit: Applicants for master’s degree studies must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35; Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40; (5) Applicants should not be holding scholarships of any other category meanwhile.

Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme
Information: Commonwealth Scholarships are available each year to fund Commonwealth citizens' study in the UK for undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications. A range of scholarships are available for citizens of Commonwealth countries other than the UK. Further information is available on the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission website.
How to apply: Application is made through the nominating agency (frequently the Education Ministry/Government Department or similar) of the applicant's home country. The nominating agency selects the best applications and forwards these to the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission. Please check out the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission website above for individual countries' eligibility criteria and deadlines for application.
Daiwa Foundation Tohoku Scholarships
Description: In response to the 11 March 2011 earthquake and tsunami in the north east of Japan, the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, in partnership with the British Council in Japan, has launched a £250,000 scholarship fund to support Japanese students in the Tohoku region.
The aim of this initiative is to support post-secondary level students from any part of Tohoku1, in particular those areas most affected by the recent events (Miyagi, Fukushima and Iwate prefectures) seeking to study for a period at an educational institution in the United Kingdom. Applications will also be considered from students from the Tohoku region who are currently studying in the UK but who require financial support to continue their studies. Moreover, we welcome applications from those students from Tohoku who seek to contribute to the recovery and regeneration of the region.
Scholarship applications may be submitted for the following types of courses, beginning in 2011, 2012 or 2013:
• Undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses (including foundation programmes) in all subject areas
• PhD and post-doctoral research programmes
• Vocational courses at universities and colleges of further education
• English language courses (e.g. pre-sessional courses, English language summer schools)
Value: The amount of funding available will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Sufficient funding will be awarded to cover fees, living expenses and travel expenses for an applicant’s intended course, in line with its level and duration. Therefore, applicants are required to explain their vision for the future and financial plans as part of the application process. Priority will be given to students who can demonstrate seriousness of purpose and financial need.
Eligibility: Successful applicants must secure a place on a course of study at a UK institution in order to take up funding.

Global Supplementary Grant Programme
Description: The Open Society Scholarship Programs is pleased to announce the Global Supplementary Grant Program (GSGP) for 2012 – 2013. GSGP offers supplementary grants to students from select countries of Eastern and Central Europe, the former Soviet Union and Mongolia, the Middle East/Near East and South Asia. The purpose of the program is to enable qualified students with demonstrated academic excellence and social commitment to pursue doctoral studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences at accredited universities throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle/Near East, and North America.
Value: Up to $10,000
Eligibility: The Global Supplementary Grant Program is available to citizens of the following countries: Albania, Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia, Croatia, Egypt, Georgia, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Nepal, Palestine, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
GSGP grants are for students pursuing doctorate degrees only. Students admitted to master’s programs with the intent to continue, but who are not clearly admitted into a Ph.D. program, are ineligible. Please note that this is a supplementary program not intended for full funding. Applicants must be able to demonstrate additional support from other sources. Students pursuing doctorates in the medical, physical, chemical, technical or natural sciences as well as fine or performing arts are not eligible for this grant.

GU68 Engineers Trust
Description: The GU 1968 Engineers Trust was established by the 1968 Engineering Graduates of Glasgow University for the purposes of the advancement of education and, in particular, for the provision of benefit to or for students studying Engineering at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.
Value: The value of any Award is likely to be between £250 and £500.
Eligibility: Each year, the Trust invites written applications from, or on behalf of, candidates in any Engineering discipline for Awards to help to meet extraordinary costs associated with projects which can demonstrate a contribution to Engineering research or practice. The Trust can also consider applications to provide assistance to students with special financial needs.

Open Europe Scholarship scheme (OESS) – Belarus students

Description: The purpose of OESS is to contribute to a democratic and prosperous development in Belarus by giving Belarusians students access to higher education without ideological bias and according to internationally accepted academic standards.
OESS scholarships are granted on the basis of motivation, including the expected capacity to graduate.
Specific OESS priority fields are Law, Economics and related Social Sciences, Business Studies, Natural Sciences, Medicine and Engineering. Applications from other fields may also be accepted.
Value: Full tuition fee and for travel and accommodation for the entire period of studies up to graduation.

Eligibility: The scholarship program is open for all Belarusians students that meet the academic, linguistic and personal requirements.
Students should apply to a maximum of 3 universities fitting the OESS eligibility criteria (see website) before submitting an OESS scholarship. Applicants whose OESS applications pass the first screening will be invited to an interview in Vilnius. The final decision on the scholarship can only be made after the University decision.
Postgrad Solutions Global and US LLM Study Bursaries
Description: Postgrad Solutions Ltd is offering two Global and US LLM Study Bursaries each to the value of £500. They are open to both international and UK students, and aim to help students fund their chosen Master of Laws programme anywhere in the world or specifically in the United States. The winners will be announced in Autumn 2013.
Eligibility: Applicants must be a member of the free-of-charge Postgrad Solutions Student Service, and have an offer of a place for a LLM degree commencing September 2013.
Scholarships are open to both international and UK students.
Value: £500. Payment of the award will be made directly to the University and will be discounted from your tuition fees as appropriate.

Saïd Foundation Scholarship

Description: The Said Foundation has been supporting students from the Middle East since 1984. Over the years more than 500 young people have benefited from scholarships including archaeologists, environmentalists, geneticists, linguists, musicians, nurses, water engineers and university professors. All the Foundation asks of its scholars is that they apply their new skills and knowledge in one of the target countries on completion of their course.
Value: The Foundation is able to provide full or partial scholarships for masters' degrees at partner universities in the UK. Funding depends on the student’s level of financial need and whether other grants/funding is available to applicants. The Foundation is also happy to consider distance learning courses and shorter postgraduate courses at partner universities.
Eligibility: To apply for a Saïd Foundation Scholarship you need to:
- have a good first degree
- provide evidence of your proficiency in English
- be under forty years of age
- be Jordanian, Lebanese, Syrian or Palestinian (including Palestinians inside Israel) and be resident in the Middle East
- demonstrate that your chosen course of study will be of use to your home country or the Middle East region
- have at least two years' work experience
- sign a binding undertaking to apply the skills and knowledge you have gained in one of the Foundation's target countries

Description: Two scholarships are available each year to students studying at the Universities of Oslo, Bergen and Tromsø and wishing to complete the International Competition Law and Policy LLM at the University of Glasgow. Tullow Group Scholarship Scheme

Description:
The Tullow Group Scholarship Scheme aims to build capacity in areas where Tullow’s host countries experience significant skills gaps, especially, but not exclusively, around their oil and gas industries. The Scheme is aligned with Tullow’s aim of supporting long-term socio-economic development in countries where it operates, and is managed by the British Council.
Scholarships are available to those who are committed to making a contribution to their own country’s development.
Value:

- Have a minimum of a bachelor degree or Licence (second class lower or better);
- Be resident in participating country at the time of application;
- Have work experience with a track record of success in their field of endeavour;
- Have not previously studied abroad or received an international scholarship;
- Have a strong personality as well as ambition, entrepreneurial and creative spirit and leadership skills;
- Demonstrate commitment to return to their country and to make a contribution to its future development; and
- Demonstrate a high level of competence in management, strategy and ability to train and develop others.

The Japan Scotland Association Scholarship
Description: The Japan Scotland Association has set up this scholarship scheme to help improve links between Japan and Scotland. The scheme will assist Japanese students at Master’s level of any speciality studying at Scottish Universities, commencing September 2013. One scholarship is available per year.
Value: 300,000JPY
Eligibility: Applicants must be:
• A Japanese national planning to enter a postgraduate programme at Master’s level at a Scottish University and
• Someone who undertakes to be active in the Japan Scotland Association after completion of their studies.

The aim is to attract the best candidates from the regions and countries where the Group operates, while contributing to strengthen the relationship between IBERDROLA and national and international universities and institutes of technology, particularly with those linked to training in areas related to energy sustainability
Eligibility: The scholarships for Postgraduate studies are intended for graduates and final-year students from Spain, Great Britain, United States and various Latin American countries so they can further their postgraduate education in Spain, the United Kingdom and United States.
