Fees, bursaries and scholarships for undergraduate students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland entering the University from 2012

What is the annual tuition fee from 2012?

For all courses apart from Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Veterinary Medicine & Surgery the annual tuition fee is £6,750 for each year of study. This means that the cost of a four year degree from the University will be £27,000. Students opting to take their £1,000 Welcome Bursary in the form of a tuition fee discount will pay £26,000 for a four year degree. Access Tuition Fee Discounts and Access Scholarships are also available.

The annual fee for Dentistry, Medicine and Veterinary Medicine & Surgery will be £9,000. The Welcome Bursary and Access Scholarship are also available to students from these disciplines.

The annual fee for Nursing will be £1,820. The Welcome Bursary and Access Scholarships are not available to Nursing students.

How do I pay tuition fees?

The majority of students will be eligible for a tuition fee loan to cover the costs of their tuition.

Bursaries and Scholarships for undergraduate students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland from 2012

All new entrants in 2012 studying on a standard length four or five-year degree will be eligible for either the Welcome Bursary or the Access Scholarship tuition fee discount and cash bursary.

University of Glasgow Welcome Bursary

This is a non-means tested award of £1,000 for the first year of study. All fee-paying students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland who are studying on a standard length four or five year degree (apart from Nursing students) will be eligible for this award – if they do not receive an Access Scholarship. Students can choose to take the Welcome Bursary as either a tuition fee discount or a cash bursary.

University of Glasgow Access Scholarship

This is a cash bursary of £1,000 for each year of study for first degree entrants with a household income of less than £42,600 per year and who have demonstrated excellent academic achievement of at least AAB at A-level (or equivalent) before starting university.

University of Glasgow Access Tuition Fee Discount

Tuition fee discounts of up to £2,000 per annum for each of study will be awarded to students from low-income households who are in receipt of a government-funded maintenance grant.

To be awarded the Access Scholarship and/or the Access Tuition Fee Discount, students must make a successful application for a government funded maintenance grant award. Further information about government funding for loans and grants is available on our website. We recommend that you apply for support from the relevant regional authority as soon as possible.

Additional scholarships

Students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland may be eligible for one or more of these additional bursaries. Please note that students receiving an Access Scholarship will not be eligible for any other University-funded scholarship or bursary.
