Interactions between genes, nutrients and the environment in both health and disease with application to treatment interventions in a variety of disorders (e.g. obesity, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, peripheral vascular disease, chronic fatigue syndrome). Physiologic, genetic, psychosocial and economic determinants of the phenomenal success of East African distance runners.
