Having graduated from the University of Manchester in 1987 with a First Class BSc (Hons) degree in Biochemistry, I studied for my PhD within the Molecular Pharmacology Group here at the University of Glasgow, graduating in 1991. I carried out my postdoctoral studies in the Cardiology Division at Duke University Medical Centre in Durham, North Carolina, USA developing new molecular biological tools and experimental approaches to examine the regulation of cardioprotective signalling pathways. In 1997 I accepted a position here at Glasgow and am currently a Reader at the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences. My research programme examines the molecular architecture of novel signalling pathways in vascular endothelial cells with the aim of exploiting these observations to improve treatments for cardiovascular diseases.
