Clinical Trials and Implementation
The University has a long history of involvement in major clinical trials such as the West of Scotland Coronary Prevention Study, which was a landmark study leading to the current worldwide use of statins. This strong tradition continues today, and within the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences, the areas listed below are of strategic importance. The Institute collaborates with other groups within the University, notably the Robertson Centre for Biostatistics while in respect of clinical trials, the University forms a partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde via Glasgow Biomedicine.
