Opened in April 2014 and awarded a £3m research grant, we are the newest BHF Centre of Research Excellence in the UK.
We put together leading scientists who conduct ground-breaking research projects with the aim of conquering heart disease.
We focus our research within 3 major axes:
Immune dysregulation in vascular disease; Signalling & redox biology of small vessel disease; Microvessels, heart disease & pulmonary hypertension.
A priority of the Centre of Excellence is the creation of 2 new fully funded training programmes.
The award enables the creation of 3 new Core facilities by supporting highly skilled personnel to run these facilities.
BHF Professor Rhian Touyz, Director of the Institute of Cardiovascular & Medical Sciences, is the Principal Investigator and Award Director of the Excellence Award, working closely together with 18 senior co-investigators from multi-disciplinary backgrounds in order to implement the programme.
Stay tuned for interesting news about research and people at the BHF Centre of Excellence!
