Issued: Tue, 10 Sep 2013 09:48:00 BST

10th SEPTEMBER 2013
ICAMS very own Augusto Montezano receives the nomination from The International Society of Hypertension as their Researcher of The Month for August.
"In August I had the pleasure of being nominated Researcher of the Month from the New Investigators Committee of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH). Besides the fact that I was extremely happy with such a moment in my early career, I also realized that we are truly not alone in this scientific world and our hard work can not only be recognized by our senior peers, but also by our future colleagues and collaborators. With that nomination, an invitation to join the communication working group from the same committee was extended and now I am proud to say that I am part of this extremely active initiative. Additionally, I believe that a good opportunity for our Young Investigators Network will commence and we could learn and work together with the ISH’s New Investigators Network. I believe that we, the young researchers from ICAMS, should get more active beyond our meetings and scientific discussions, expanding our scope and activities. As a first step, we all could join the ISH, which is free of charge for us, and be part of the initiative. It doesn’t matter if you are a stroke, cardiac, virus, micro RNA, proteomics, renal or even cancer researcher. We are learning more and more that hypertension is part of many diseases, but most of all, getting yourself out there is crucial to your career. Stay tuned for more and many thanks for the spotlight!" Augusto Montezano
