Dr Melville graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1993. He completed dual training in general adult and learning disabilities psychiatry before taking up the Senior Lecturer post in learning disabilities psychiatry in 2003. His previous research has examined the structure and validity of models of psychopathology experienced by individuals with developmental disabilities; psychopathology experienced by adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASD); stress and problem behaviours in adults with ASD; healthy lifestyles for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Current research interests: measurement of stress and physiological arousal in individuals with ASD; biomarkers of developmental psychopathology.
