Professor Jahoda has been Professor of Learning Disabilities at the University of Glasgow since 2006. He is also an Honorary Consultant Clinical Psychologist at Greater Glasgow and Clyde, and runs a city wide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy service for people with learning disabilities. His research concerns psychosocial factors that can contribute to the development of emotional and inter-personal difficulties, alongside factors that promote resilience. This includes published studies about stigma, aggression and sexuality. A related strand of work focuses on the adaptation of psychological therapies for people with learning disabilities and emotional difficulties. He is a member of the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) mental health and learning disabilities group. He is also a member of the Scottish Government Learning Disability sub-group concerning the delivery of Psychological therapies, and co-authored the learning disability section of the Guide to delivering evidence-based Psychological Therapies in Scotland published in 2011.
