Redevelopment of SCENE
A new state-of-the-art £7m facility is underway, with sustainable construction and energy efficiency a top priority. The research wing was completed in October 2006 and a fundraising campaign is raising the final £1m towards the project costs.
The new research facilities will enable a three-fold increase in research at the centre, supporting important work on understanding and protecting our environment, working towards resolving the global challenge of reconciling exploitation and conservation, and in predicting responses to environmental change.
With improved teaching facilities, our first-rate training in field and laboratory approaches, as well as field experience in real habitats, can be further developed. The new centre will continue to train future generations of environmental scientists to the highest standard and increase the number of students taught over the next three years from 600 to over 1,600 per year.
Your support for this unique resource on beautiful Loch Lomond will benefit the local and wider community. We hope that you feel able to support the campaign - all gifts will help us towards our target.
