For over 20 years Glasgow’s SPEED laboratory, based in the School of Engineering, has worked with major manufacturers in the electrical engineering industry.
The SPEED lab has developed electric machine design software which is the industry’s leading software tool and worked with companies in the USA, Europe, Japan and South America, covering all of the main sectors including industrial, domestic appliances, aerospace, automotive and office machinery.
The SPEED laboratory is held in such esteem in the area of power electronics and motor drive technology that many internationally recognised experts visit the team in Glasgow to work on their areas of expertise within the laboratory.
By combining advanced research with practical applications the consortium has gone from strength to strength over the years, outlasting and outperforming its competitors. It is one of the University’s most successful examples of industrial collaboration and the lab continues to be one of the world’s leading centres for the theory of the design and control of electric machines.
