Success for Alexia in the 3MT finals

Alexia Koletsou was given third place at the UK's first national Three-minute Thesis (3MT) competition with her presentation on how the most effective methods for sustainability are not necessarily those the public are most likely to do. 

The 3MT competition challenges postgraduate students to distil their research into a three-minute pitch to a non-specialist audience with nothing but a single slide to aid them. Entrants are judged on comprehensibility, engagement and communication, including whether they clearly describe the results of their research, capture the audience’s attention and avoid using jargon.

An audience of about 140 watched 14 competitors from six universities giving a three-minute pitch about their research. 

Three students represented University of Glasgow in the final:

  • Jamie Gallagher - Nanoscale Thermoelectronics
  • Muhammad Ashraf - the Education Policy of Pakistan
  • Alexia Koletsou - Communicating Sustainable Behaviours
