Public health
The University of Glasgow is working across the boundaries of research, policy, and implementation to shape a healthier future for all. We are researching in the lab, in the community and in the political arena to understand disease, find cures and analyse healthcare provision.
Research in the lab
Using world-class researchers, state of the art facilities and partnerships with other organisations, we are tackling Scotland’s three biggest killers – cancer, cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases. Our School of Medicine houses more than 350 researchers, featuring internationally important divisions in areas from neuroscience to infection and immunology.
Research in the community
We use initiatives such as the Glasgow Centre for Population Health to bring people with different perspectives together and find new approaches to improve Glasgow's health. We are developing a better understanding of health in the city using this knowledge to enhance population health for many cities and regions in the future.
Research into policy
Our Public Health & Health Policy research unit aims to maximise an equitable distribution of population health and wellbeing in Scotland and beyond. We create exchange and use knowledge participate in policy, practice and professional development.
